Here at Briiz, we strongly believe in having a checklist to follow when doing a cleaning job for a client. In a previous post, we shared with you how often you should be washing and cleaning your stuff at home but today we are going to dive a bit deeper into this and give you a kitchen cleaning checklist for you to follow.
The tasks below will be divided into daily, weekly and monthly tasks just to make it easier for you to understand and cope with.
As always, we would like to help you with your kitchen cleaning, or all other cleaning jobs for that matter, so if we can help in any way, feel free to get in touch with one of our cleaning professionals.
A Daily Kitchen Cleaning Checklist
A quick thing you can do each and every day to keep your kitchen looking clean is a quick sweep to help declutter the floors and give it a cleaner look in general.
Wipe Down Counters
Things that you use (and touch) every day should be given a quick wipe down as to get rid of smudges and hand prints all over the counters.
Also, if you’re preparing your food on the counter, it’s best to also disinfect them to make sure no bacteria is left.
Wipe Down Oven
Ovens are messy, especially if you cook a lot. make sure you give your oven a quick wipe after every time you use it or at least, once a day.
if you have a dishwasher in your kitchen, then you should already know how that is very easy to leave it full even after your dishes are clean.
Try to empty your dishes as soon as you are down with them and store them in their appropriate places.
obviously, if you have more dishes to do. Once you have emptied it and gave it a quick clean, all is left to do now is to load it up with your dirty dishes thus to keep the kitchen clean and decluttered.
Pick up Clutter
Clutter is everywhere, especially if you have a big family. Although this not makes the kitchen “dirty”, it does make it look like it is so set aside 5min a day to quickly declutter as much as you can.
next up, is you “weekly” to-dos to keep a clean kitchen
A Weekly Kitchen Cleaning Checklist
We all know dust is an issue in Malta so this is something you should keep in mind when doing a clean out of your kitchen.
Every week, try to dust off your furniture, floors and whatever else you see dusty (duh). You do not want to let dust pile up as a quick 15-minute job can become hours long if you let it pile up.
Obviously, if you gave any carpet lying about, a weekly vacuum can also do the trick.
Wipe Down Cabinets & Appliances
Things that you use and touch regularly like cabinets, appliances and such won’t need a daily wipe down unless you’re a neat freak but ideally, you would do them at least once a week,
Scrub Kitchen Sink
If you use your sink often, a weekly proper scrub down is ideal. Ideally, you would also use some antibacterial cleaning spray to keep it shining and hygienic as much as possible.
On to the monthly checklist….
A Monthly Kitchen Cleaning Checklist
Clean Blinds & Curtains
If you have any blinds or curtains about in your kitchen room, you may be surprised to know (especially if you haven’t cleaned them in a while) that they are probably in need of a cleaning.
Doing this once a month should be enough though so as long as you keep this in your monthly to-do’s it should be an easy task to handle.
This is an important one, probably the most important one. Make sure that at the very least; you give your refrigerator a cleaning.
That is throw away unused items that are probably out of date (yes you have them in there somewhere) and give it a good scrub with an anti-bacterial cleaning agent.
Your refrigerator is where you store your food, so this is extremely important to make sure it stays clean.
Clean Inside Oven
If you’re using your oven often, it’s inevitable that it gets dirty and unless you’ve been cleaning it every once in awhile ,it;s due for a good clean out.
Wash Inside Trash Bins
Trash bins gather trash and just because “you take the trash out” doesn’t mean that it doesn’t need to be sealed every month.
Some may do this step every week, his depends on your preference but a good clean out each and every month should be enough to keep it clean and smell free.
Sanitize Switch Plates
An often overlooked cleaning job in the kitchen is the switch plates for your electricity. Most likely you are switching them on and off with dirty hands from cooking and eating so unbeknownst to you, your switchboards can have a lot of dirt on them along with unwanted bacterias.
This is an easy job but still an important one so make sure you give them a scrub every month or so.
